Department of Pediatrics, Government Medical College, Datia is providing health care services to the children ranging from newborns till teen age of Datia district as well as the geographically attached regions of Gwalior, Bhind, Shivpuri and Jhansi (U.P.) districts too. Department has spacious newly constructed OPD and IPD blocks having 44 bedded Pediatric wards , 20 bedded PICU and NICU each, equipped with the latest facilities of emergency care including mechanical ventilator. There is a 20 bedded Nutritional Rehabilitation Center (NRC) run in association with National Health Mission (NHM) and Unicef. An Emrgency Triage Assessment and Treatment (ETAT) unit running in OPD premises equipped with staff skilled in the management of critical patients coming in OPD and stabilize them before sending to PICU/NICU. Department fulfills all the criteria as per the MCI norms to run for undergraduate medical teaching.
Department conducts academic activities for doctors and support staff. World Thalassemia day was celebrated on 8th may 2018 with organizing a CME to make awareness among medical fraternity. Basic newborn care workshop organized on 11th december 2018 in association of Department of Pediatrics, G.R. Medical College, Gwalior for doctors and paramedical staff who are engaged in providing newborn care at different health centers of Datia district. Research project to study anemia in under five children of Datia district is also being conducted in the department.
Department works in collaboration of Pediatricians already working in district hospital, Datia round the clock. At present Department of Pediatrics is teamed with Prof. Dr Rajesh Gupta (Professor and Head), Dr Manish Ajmariya (Assistant Professor), Dr Puneet Agrawal , Dr Pankaj Gyanani (Senior Residents), Dr Akshaya Khattri, Dr Brajkishor Rawat, Dr Deepika Singh (Junior Residents) alongwith Dr Pradeep Upadhyay, Dr P. K. Sharma, Dr Dinesh Gupta, Dr Jagram Manjhi, Dr Anil Singh, Dr Vikas Agrawal, Dr Rachna Verma (Pediatric Specialists) Dr Arun Sharma and Dr Vaibhav Singh (Medical Officers) .
Department of Pediatrics , Government Medical College, Datia is sincerely trying to strngthen government health care facilities through implementation of various health schemes run by central as well as state Governments viz Ayushman Bharat Yojna, Nation Immunization Programme, National Anemia control programme, Measles-Rubella campaign, Pulse Polio etc. and committed to improve child health in Datia region.
